Tools are pulled out with the same movements as pocket knives. It's ok as long as they are not too tight! I was able to open about three of them with my fingernails. The rest required a flat head screwdriver. I tried a dime, but although it fit in the slot, the blades were too stiff to open unless I used a real screwdriver. Fail. The flashlight battery is dead - there is no battery cut-off tab. double failure. I'll update the review when the $5 pack of CR1220 batteries arrives. Would NOT buy again.
