I bought it as a gift for an old man who used it once every morning. He's not a gross big "fighter" - in fact he's small and doesn't have much power. It shouldn't have burst like that in such a short time. The handle fits into the lever that pushes the bread into the toaster, so this is obviously an important component! It also kept falling off 9 months ago, but after 9 months the plastic piece inside the handle just broke off and it was impossible to reattach the handle. The handle is plastic and obviously not durable. I wouldn't recommend this toaster unless you're looking for something that will work well for about 6 months. A durable handle is crucial, because that's how the bread gets into the toast stand.
