I don't know if I got a bad one but I've had it with four different Roku players ranging in age from five years to six months tried a sony bluray player. It didn't work for anyone. I've tried all resolutions with different HDMI and component cables that I know are good because I use them on other devices. I tried everything on two different Sony TVs. Changing permissions didn't change anything. I've tried holding down the permission button longer, etc. to no avail. The screen either remained blank or showed wide vertical stripes of different colors. The best I could get is a split screen with a blurry image showing a duplicate image on the left and right halves of the screen. I even tried to re-order the green-blue-red component cables in case they were mislabeled on this converter at the factory. After trying different cables, devices and different ways for a few hours, I gave up and decided to return it because I couldn't think of anything else to try. I'm very good at stuff like that, so I don't see what I could have done wrong. Maybe I had a bad block, I don't know, but it didn't suit me.
