Strong but not very effective

I bought 2 of these because I make salads every day and want to put one in the dishwasher while it's clean. One works very well, the other doesn't. I can't figure out why, but it has nothing to do with how spicy they are. I suspect one is a little off track, so it bends my lettuce when it pinches instead of cutting it. Also, in both cases the stainless steel was already rusted even though I've only had them for about 2 months. The concept is great. How they feel when cut is great. But I would think twice about the possibility that you don't get what you pay for.
