Review on 🌬️ GermGuardian GG1100W Elite Pluggable UV-C Sanitizer and Deodorizer: Germ Killing Air Purifier for Pets, Smoke, Mold, Cooking, Laundry – White by Amanda Adams

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Extremely low running costs. But lame because I need to be seen/heard

I first bought the GG1100W to try to deal with pet odors in my living room. I was won over by the compactness of the unit, since it was installed directly at the outlet, and the absence of filters that had to be replaced (and therefore an increase in long-term running costs). I was also intrigued by the use of UV light instead of traditional filters. When I received the device I immediately plugged it into my Kill-a-Watt to see what its power consumption was (which is normal for me). I was pleasantly surprised at how meager the power consumption was - only 3.5 watts. Even with my relatively high electricity tariff (16 cents/kWh). This thing only uses about $5 of electricity for a full YEAR when running 24/7. It's way cheaper than any other alternative I've considered. Add to that the fact that there are no filters to change and it's very wallet-friendly. Of course, it has a light bulb that needs to be replaced regularly. But compared to the larger, more energy intensive options that have 2-3 different filters that need to be swapped out independently and sometimes with the UV light on. Additionally, it's easy to see that the GG1100W is a simple and affordable option. But does this thing really matter? it seems to me. After a few days of working in my living room, the pet odors in my living room have noticeably decreased. That being said, I had to move the unit due to the ever-present high-pitched whine of the GG1100W fan. It's not exactly "loud" scientifically, but it's a higher pitched note than most fans, and I'm easily annoyed by high-pitched notes. I then tried it in my bedroom, hoping the whining would be drowned out by my bedside fan. But back then, the bright blue light was annoying. So he went to the corner of the kitchen where the garbage is kept along with the dog food and water bowls. There it seems to have a beneficial effect, because the smell of wet dog food cans in the garbage has almost disappeared. So ultimately this is a budget option for places where there is no sound and light performance. take care of. I am mostly convinced of the advantages of UV-C technology. I may try the desktop version of GermGuardian to see if it's quieter and can be used elsewhere in the house.
