Plastic bubble scissors are extremely useful.

I found a plastic bubble cutter. They are great for spot cleaning our reptiles' sandy areas as the droppings stay inside and the sand falls through the holes. The dustpan is a bit big for spot cleaning, but I like almost divinely shaped brooms.
