Review on 🌬️ Lasko 20" High Velocity Quick Mount Fan - Floor to Wall Conversion, Black 2264QM by Dana Bullock

Repeatable results with minor changes.

The fan bracket is THIN aluminum which warps out of the box and can warp more, what does it matter? First of all, this causes the propeller to become unbalanced, leading to uneven wear and premature failure. Secondly, an unbalanced screw also periodically led to terribly annoying and loud humming noises. Third, it also produced a terrible burning smell that repeatedly caused me asthma and didn't go away after a month. Warranty unit, I have yet to attempt to refund the $8 for this as per their warranty instructions on their website. They were very helpful over the phone, but unfortunately the replacement I received not only had a nick/dent in the outer surface of the fan blade, it was also missing a screw! The only improvement is that it hums less and doesn't smoke me out, there will still be premature bearing failure from uneven wear, I'm 100% dissatisfied and won't be buying another Lasko alu/steel fan. Why is that important you ask? Because it's very clear to me, especially since I can't find a quality assurance sticker on the packaging or on the fan, that there is practically no quality assurance. I was a fan of the 2250QM 8 years ago, but I suspect all leftovers of this old model have been modified to accommodate the custom thin fan support. I've been using HVF in my house for years as I prefer white noise and air movement so I can pretty easily say this fan won't last long and will fail prematurely either due to incompetence or design. One - an accident, two, especially with a clearly visible pothole in the bracket - incompetence and only emphasizes not only substandard materials, but also a lack of quality control in general. (The replacement came from LASKO, not Amazon, so it's not limited to the sellers' inventory here.) It's a tragedy, this whole problem could have been avoided had not a greedy manager decided to use inferior material, to support all things. I've never seen before, and for good reason. If anyone from Lasko is reading this I hope it was worth the short term cost savings as you have to deal with high RTM from sellers and/or customers and offsetting replacement and shipping costs. It shocks me that I'm the only second reviewer to complain about this hum, I guess people leave them in their garage or somewhere and don't sit in the same room for long. Again, I've had several HVFs in my life, these are atypical sounds and symptoms.
