Looks flimsy but works as advertised

Easy to install. Insert batteries and switch on. The instructions are clear, but to be honest there are two buttons to operate, so it's not a complicated device. You will be given a list of different levels of CO and when it becomes deadly. After switching on, the device checks the CO content. I walked all around the house including the fireplace and stove. All readings were 0 ppm. Wow! The only cars I know that could show me real CO in a safe environment (outside) were our cars. I got a reading of 100ppm in the tailpipe of my 2017 Ford. With my wife's 2008 Dodge I got 900 ppm readings. In comparison, 100 ppm is an acceptable exposure level for up to 8 hours. in a closed room. On the other hand, 900 ppm in a confined space will kill you within 2-3 hours. I turned off the machine and went back inside. I turned the unit back on and now "some" carbon monoxide was showing up in the house. My guess is that the sensor didn't completely erase its previous readings. I was literally in the tailpipes. I took out the battery and turned the unit back on and the reading was 0ppm. Extech states in the instructions that this device is for "general purpose" so you really can't rely on it 100%. However, it is a good tool if you have suspicions in places that the installed CO detectors cannot reach.
