I was looking for something like this that would fit in the cup holders on my 2011 Ford Ranger. That works great. The base feels relatively solid and conforms well to the inner curve of the cup holder. The base is lightly weighted. The levers and the bracket itself are made of hard plastic. They appear to be sturdy enough for most phones but don't give the impression that they will withstand a lot of knocks or bumps. The holder itself works quite well. There is a button on the side that releases the phone. When pressed, it expands as much as possible. The mechanism is cushioned, so it doesn't open very quickly. When you adjust the phone to the desired position, simply squeeze the sides together and they snap and hold. I only took off one star because the plastic doesn't seem particularly strong, but it works as advertised and seems like it will last longer if you don't handle it too harshly.
