So I bought these years ago and they ended up under my eaves. I'm talking about 10 years ago. They sounded great and had so much bass for such a small speaker. The highs and mids are very musical and I can tell you they sound fantastic with an old 80 watt Harmon Kardon receiver. Unfortunately I remember when I bought my second pair that you can't install them from the ceiling, they have to be wall mounted and I didn't want to drill my brick again. I wanted to add these to the extra speakers at the end of my house to evenly cover most of my yard as the original two speakers are on my two entrances and when you are near them they will blow your mind. I wanted the second set to be used when we were at the pool as they would be close to the pool and away from my doorways. Basically, it would help me balance the sound. Again, I love these speakers and my 10 year olds are still working after 10 years. The only thing is they took on a yellowish tint and the grilles came off one day, but I just had to put them back and slide them all the way in. I would buy them again if they could be ceiling mounted. I ended up with a definitive aw6500 technology. They sound amazing but for the price I think they're really worth considering. Build quality seems better on the aw6500, but they're also protected under the eaves of my house. I thought the aw6500's bass would blow my Yamahahas up, but it didn't. They're a bit deeper, but I wouldn't say the Yamaha lacks that much bass. What I can tell you is the further you get from home the more the Yamaha's bass boost starts to fade a bit, but it's good. Deftechs seem to keep their bass bigger compared to them. Don't let anyone tell you that these speakers don't have bass, because that is a very well tuned bass extension. I love how they tuned these speakers to sound so musical. If you can wall mount, you won't be disappointed.
