Review on EBAU108-01 Lite-On IT Corporation Optical Drives by Tom Duncan

Recently the DVD RW drive on my desktop died and I needed a new one. After giving it some thought I decided to go with an external drive since many newer desktops no longer have 5 1/4 inch drive bays. I think with this guy I'm covered for any future desktop or laptop I can get my hands on. This is a great little ride. The case is made of plastic, but still feels quite solid. It is very thin so it easily fits in a laptop bag. Another nice feature is that it only requires an extra power adapter that you have to take with you to work. Once connected, my Win7 desktop and Win 10 Surface Pro 3 recognized the drive immediately. Although the Nero 12 test CD comes with a drive, it is not required to listen to CDs. , run software, or view and burn data DVDs. However, watching DVD movies on Windows may require additional (free) player software (e.g. VLC, which I already have installed). That did everything I needed.
