The design of this croquet set is excellent. Unfortunately, the processing leaves a lot to be desired. This is NOT a real tree. This is composite wood, which is immediately recognizable by the label on the handle. Composite wood is sawdust etc mixed with recycled plastic bags and heated to form a fairly durable product that mimics wood. However, you must have the correct screws to attach the brass fittings. They do not appear to have been used in the manufacture of this product. That's why the hammer heads spin like a weather vane when you try to hit the ball. Even if you re-tighten the head, placing the hammer head next to the ball is enough to loosen the head. You can imagine what happens if you dare to hit a ball with a bat! This is very frustrating. My son and I see this as a challenge for our game. Lol but this set is too expensive for such a problem. Also, the bullets look like they're covered in some kind of vinyl or plastic coating, and they already have cuts and marks from things like plastic/vinyl degrading. We keep the set although Revain sent it back with no problems. We hope to use wood glue to solve the screw problem. We love the design and the gates are excellent and look like they are made of steel about 1/2 inch in diameter. We will use balloons from another set if these vinyl coated balloons continue to deteriorate.
