only buy. No worries!

The move from the 22-inch Dell to the HP w2408h was a pleasant surprise, to say the least. I didn't think the extra 2 inches would make any difference at all, I couldn't be more wrong. The HP w2408h monitor is great in all lighting conditions in my home office and believe me, the lighting in my home office changes with the cloud patterns in the sky. I do graphic layouts so I need a big wide screen. Since I'm not a gamer and have never used monitor speakers, I can't confirm these features. I'm just dazzled by the beautiful rich LCD display. I flipped (rotated) the display to try portrait mode, but switched back to landscape mode shortly after. I prefer landscape mode as landscape mode is most convenient for my work. Desktop Connection: I've used the HP w2408h with both Windows XP and Windows Vista without a single hiccup. I was using an HDMI connection from a monitor to a graphics card level DVI/HDMI adapter. Many new HDMI capable video cards come with this adapter in the retail box, but I bought a few extras when I bought the monitor. Laptop connection: Instead of messing around with a bunch of adapters, I used my laptop's VGA port. to the HP w2408h monitor. I just wanted to try the VGA connection to see if there was a noticeable difference in quality. To be honest, I haven't noticed any degradation in image quality when switching from my laptop display to the HP w2408h LCD monitor. My particular laptop has an m8600GT discrete graphics card, so it can mask any potential issues with performance degradation when switching from HDMI to VGA. I can't say the HP w2408h monitor is good for ACAD or imaging as I haven't tested it. it is under such conditions; However, the graphic work I do is 3D and multidimensional. I am very happy with this monitor for my work. The price of monitors continues to drop, so getting the HP w2408h is no longer a problem, but getting the lowest price. I only buy the display new in the factory packaging. A refurbished or used display is too much of a gamble as its lifespan is in question and the price is almost the same as a heavily discounted, factory-sealed new monitor. For $299 shipped to my door in a factory sealed box, I have no complaints. at all.
