Review on 🔧 Sintech M.2 SATA SSD 24Pin Card: Perfect Fit for 2012 MacBook Air, for 2280 M.2 SSD by Ricardo Thotti

Works in 2012 Macbook Air

This adapter is for my 2012 MacBook Air and Samsung Evo 850 M.2 SSD. I'm using a 512GB SSD with MacOS X El Capitan instead of the factory 128GB hard drive. The adapter adds a bit of thickness between the MacBook logic board and the base plate pedestal. With the adapter and SSD installed, the base cover will be pressed against the SSD when tightened. It fits just enough to screw in the bottom cover, but that puts more pressure on the flash chips. I hope this doesn't cause any long-term damage to the SSD chips. It would be nice if the adapter were sunk a bit behind the M.2 connection so that the SSD could sit "deeper" in the laptop. After installing MacOSX, I had to use the trimforce enable command for the OS to start TRIM support properly. As for the shipping, my only complaint is that it took a long time to arrive via China Post. Between 3 and 4 weeks.

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Expensive
