I love the Martelli Reversible Cutting Mat. I like the fact that you have to buy the parts separately because it's easy to get a part without realizing you also need a base or countertop. I've had the lid for quite some time and just never have one Ordered swivel base. Still, I'm glad I finally made it. The top has a rubber bottom so it doesn't slide on the base at all and the base rotates on ball bearings so it's easy. This is a great tool when you have a lot of half-square triangles. or flying geese for cutting. This is a large cutting mat but it certainly has its limitations so it is best to use it with a square ruler or a short ruler, 6 x 24 is not the best option. The cutting surface is a little busy, with lots of colors and markings, but the surface itself is of high quality and seems fairly resilient to damage. It's not soft like many rugs, so you wonder if it's going to work well, and it does.
