I bought this on a whim to make a fun costume for myself and my noble horse. Makes sense right? Why not use a children's sewing machine in a super XL project? Although it was an over-compatibility, it was the little sewing machine that could do it. Pros: It worked great on felt and sewed through 4 layers in some places without too much trouble. Easy to refuel, both speeds are easy to use. Super portable - it fits in a small pocket. Includes extra needles, needle threader, 3 spools of thread (2 white and 1 black) and 2 empty spools of thread. Cable length is acceptable. Cons: Loud! The instructions require some understanding - both winding the bobbin and the instructions for returning the hook inwards, which requires winding the bobbin so you move the thread to fill it evenly. Stitch size did not match (possibly user error) Pedal too small. Too small for large garden projects. (yes) Final analysis: I will have to switch to an adult sewing machine to further humiliate the horse. But I won't get rid of it unless it's for a worthy young man. I am confident in giving this machine to a fairly mature child who wants to learn how to sew.
