Review on Chef Prosentials Automatic Temperature Stainless by Richard Dean

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent value for money, even better customer service

I'll start this review by saying how happy I am with the seller of jimmy2016. He was very responsive and answered all of my questions, but be sure to contact us using the "Contact Seller" button! We use this device for our new restaurant in New York. Despite the large number of Chinese bakeries, finding this item locally was a nightmare. Very few local vendors sell it, and those that don't offer any guarantees or even allow returns. A local supplier told me that after paying in store we can plug it in to make sure it works, but even then there are no returns! That's right, even if the item was completely broken, I wouldn't be able to return it. An internet search turned up just one model from a so-called "respected" manufacturer being sold by a "respected" supplier for over $2,000! And no, I would definitely not roll the dice and buy directly from Asia via AliExpress. So I was beyond thrilled when I found this product available from Revain. In addition to AZ's Revain protection, jimmy2016 offers a 7-day return policy and 1-year parts warranty. Peace of mind means everything in this business. The best part is that the item actually shipped from the USA! We received in about a week. Such a nice surprise as the ad says it is shipped from China and takes 1-2 months to ship! This is a new seller that we are glad we took a chance on. Note to jimmy2016: change your name to something more formal and update your listing to include a return policy, a guarantee and that it doesn't actually ship from China! So why only 4 stars? In short, the design screams a budget device, but we paid a budget price. You pay for value, not luxury. It is important that it steams perfectly and that our rolls turn out exactly as we want them to. The maximum temperature is higher than other models we tested (110 °C on the dial). This model has a fuse - if there is not enough water, the heating element turns off. Critical feature as the heating element will burn out without water. This fault tolerance is not available on other models. The product is also CE marked, another item that should be on the list. Although the product serves its purpose, I'm not giving it 5 stars. The item arrived with a few dents, one of the grilles was broken and I had some issues with the glass divider that goes over the top shelf. The glass partition also had a few dents from the poor packaging, but is still usable. However, the seller informed me this morning that the spare parts are on their way. The posts themselves wobble a bit and appear a bit smaller when placed on the railing. After draining the unit, there will still be some water in the compartment that contains the heating element, so you'll have to vacuum it out or soak it with something if you want it to be completely dry. The accompanying instructions are not eloquently written and there were no instructions for installing a glass partition over the rack. In fact, it wasn't immediately clear what the jar was for and I had to look closer to understand it, although it wasn't difficult. The seller emailed me this part of the manual upon request. I suspect that the purpose of the glass partition is to collect condensation and prevent it from reaching the lighting element. Moisture gets into the lighting compartment anyway and only time will tell what the consequences will be. The light box can be opened so you can clean it, and the light rises where water can collect, so you should be fine. That's why we rely on the CE conformity mark, which tells us that the device is safe to use. In conclusion, excellent value for money and glad we took the risk! A 4 star product that can easily be upgraded to 5 with a few manufacturer tweaks.
