I pierced my nose with this, I have no piercing experience so this is a beginner review. I looked at pictures of the stud piercing to place it correctly. The piercing gun comes with a preloaded spike, which is the spiky metal rod you see. Do not try hitting or the pin will fall out and you will lose it. I didn't have any pain relief cream so I made them raw. Not my best idea. I would recommend someone to help you because I had the same problem as the other reviewer: I thought I pushed hard enough but it only happened halfway and the second half of the way it was difficult because I did already thought I pushed hard enough. Once I pierced it, the plug rubbed my septum uncomfortably. I bought studs with a spiral insert, took this one out and put in another one that doesn't interfere with my septum. I know it's not recommended, but I found it quite awkward to hold the piercing post (must have had the wrong angle, it went right into my septum lol my fault). I would also recommend buying a saline solution to keep it clean after the piercing.
