Review on πŸ”’ Eufy Security Battery Video Doorbell Wireless Kit: HD Resolution, No Monthly Fees by Jeff Westra

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Outperforms the original doorbell in almost every way.

I bought this doorbell to replace my original "OG" ring doorbell which I have had since 2017. about 2 weeks on a single charge, this combined with difficulties connecting to wi-fi as well as a non-working internal ringer made me look elsewhere for battery powered options and eventually to this unit. Having installed this device for a few weeks, I have no hesitation in saying that this is a vastly superior device in almost every way imaginable. After two weeks, the device reports 91% battery remaining, and that's even using my occasional live camera feed just to check. Here's a list of some of my pros and cons that I can think of so far. Pros: 1. Battery life seems great. While the Ring is lucky enough to have a month of battery life at best, this device, even if it's newer, will likely last a couple of months at least.2. Illuminated doorbell button, when eufy detects movement the doorbell button lights up letting the visitor know there is a doorbell and also a camera (good for security). The ring did not have this feature when running on battery (it always glows when plugged in). .)3. "Simka" like release. This is much better than the security screws on the ring, both screws are stripped by me and need to be replaced, this snap method is quick and easy.4. The video quality has greatly improved compared to OG Ring.5. The time from doorbell to notification is almost instantaneous, with the ringing lasting a few seconds most of the time if you're lucky. Motion detection is great, I'm often notified of motion before the visitor has even reached the threshold.7. No Monthly/Annual Fee: With the ring you had to pay $30 a year to watch historical videos unless you happened to check the camera during the event, you're out of luck with this device and a $10 memory card there is always story to see for free.8. Internal chime included - with the ring you had to buy it separately or buy a set, in any case the cost was higher than this set at Revain. Cons: 1. No wired option - Not a problem for me as my house didn't have a wired doorbell, but for those with a wired one it would be great never having to charge it. I believe Eufy makes another model with this option.2. The doorbell lacks sound options - it's a bit picky but the ringtones are boring at best, the chime definitely had fun sounds for the holidays, it's not a functionality issue and could easily be fixed if they wanted to. Overall I am very satisfied with this device and will recommend it to friends at the doorbell from now on. I used to be a ring apologist and convinced a few friends to buy it, but for me in my house it's the best device in almost every way. I think if you have a working cable you might think twice about the battery only option, but other than that it's fantastic for the price and performance.

Pros
  • Watch them arrive in Full HD: Get a clear picture of everyone approaching your front door in 1080p resolution. An extended wide dynamic range and 4:3 aspect ratio ensure you always get accurate color from head to toe.
Cons
  • I don't remember
