I've used tons of these over decades of car audio installation. They are all essentially the same. There is a short version used for most GM side mount batteries. In addition, there is a long version that is mainly used for pickups with OEM dual battery cables. With the short version, it is often difficult to get the first thread into the battery. I admit I've always managed to dress it up right. However, I have also fought some. If it was 1/16 inch longer it would probably make a difference. I can't imagine a tiny extra length could damage a battery, but I've certainly never measured it. All in all a very useful item. it works exactly as it should.
