Good alternative for most conditions but not recommended for rocky ground

I bought two packs of 4 poles as an alternative to the aluminum poles that came with our tent. I was hoping to save weight and get a stronger bet for potentially rocky terrain. Comparing the weight of 8 titanium V-pillars to 8 standard aluminum V-pillars, the titanium pillars were 10 grams heavier. So, small difference, but they should be stronger than aluminum pegs, right? Well, I can only speak from our experience. So far we have used them on two trips. Titanium V-struts are easier to penetrate and pull out than aluminum V-struts because they are thinner. However, the results on stony soils were not encouraging. On our second hike using the titanium stakes, we encountered rocky ground (the stones are not visible on the surface) and the titanium stakes flexed with surprisingly little force when the stake struck the buried rock. Of the 8 stocks I bought, 2 are already dead. So titanium v-bars are heavier than aluminum and have no obvious strength advantage over aluminum bars. I think we tend to stick with aluminum bars and see if Y bars are better for flex strength.
