I couldn't find a small citronella collar for my 4.5 lb dog. All are too bulky for a small dog. So I thought of attaching it to the inside of his practice grip. . It worked! The remote lets me honk the horn first, and if it doesn't stop I spray the citronella. I only had to spray the citronella once! Now he only responds to the beep! I positioned the collar in the pen so that it doesn't get in his eyes, so be very careful with the position of the atomizer! I also directed the jet away from his food and water bowls. I have several small dogs and now that one is trained I move the collar and attach it to another exercise cage. If you have more than one dog please separate the dog you are having trouble with as you don't want to punish a dog that doesn't bark! I can also attach this collar to a problem spot like a window where they can bark or a front door etc. It has literally changed my life and I really think I love my dog because of it. more! really feel sorry for my dog the first time i sprayed it he sneezed for a good four or five minutes. I would not recommend using this citronella collar if your dog is not responding to the spray after 1 or 2 sprays. I believe if used continuously it would affect her respiratory system. If your dog doesn't respond after a few sprays, he probably won't, and there's no point in compromising his airway!
