very happy with it for $$

I got my stove about two weeks ago and have used it several times, am happy with everything. Heats up well and cooks evenly. I would like to answer some complaints in other reviews. First, with any product, there will be some that just don't work. Give them back and get one that does. If you follow the registration process described in the product instructions (email me the picture and your order number) you have a good guarantee in case of problems. Second, it heats up slowly, but that goes for any electric burner, burner, or stovetop. It takes time to figure out what settings you need, but such is life. It was hot enough to fry things, cooler temperatures are perfect for braising. Most ovens just say "high, medium, low," but this one has numbers. That's easy to understand. When it's hot, it stays hot even after you turn it off. This is because it is heat retaining cast iron and not a cheaper metal. For example, when making eggs or pancakes, I turn off the heat halfway through the first side and then flip them over and let the remaining heat cook through the second side. Remember, the pan will get HOT, so set it on a heat-safe surface until it cools. It's in the instructions. I believe you will get better results if you read and listen to them. The unit itself is nice and strong, durable and heavier than most burners because it's cast iron. I also like that there isn't a gap around the burner where food or liquid could spill and ruin everything. This requires a large frying pan, it's not small but doesn't take up much countertop space. Yes, toggling on and off clears the control knob pretty quickly, but I put a bit of + and - on it with black tape and the problem is solved. Also, the big orange light when you turn it on is a pretty good clue. Read and follow the instructions and hopefully you will be as happy with yours as I was with mine.
