They were not suitable for my child for swimming competitions. They are a little bulky and have too much material in the lower abdomen so they don't fit snugly. They also hit the waist, as other jammers have a lower neckline. But for daily swimming, the beach, the pool, etc., they are quite suitable. Just didn't work for us as a track suit for the swim team.
