I have changed my rating to 3 stars. The device still has flaws but the seller is very responsive and willing to re-evaluate the item to see if it can be improved or the price reduced. <edit> 2.5 stars. The fan makes sales difficult. The drives aren't cooling properly and I can expect premature failure in the future. Poor design and cheap materials make it not worth the price. Bought it as a JBOD server to stream to my TV. It works. My problem is that it is a box with 5 SATA ports. Lightweight plastic body. It's nice to be able to open the lid and eject discs without tools, but it's not that big of an upgrade. The fan is located at the bottom of the case and is therefore completely useless. It does the job, but it's inefficient, noisy, cheap plastic, and costs $160. This is not a reasonable price for what you get. I have an 8-bay Mediasonic cabinet that is light years ahead of this thing and costs about the same. It doesn't even have a sync feature to turn it on and off when you turn on your computer. A more realistic price for it is closer to $100.
