Excellent headlights, some modifications needed

These headlights are of good quality and arrived safely. I won't comment on their brightness as many others have them (they are definitely bright). They offer good style at a good price but getting a good fit is a little tricky which is why I gave it 4 stars. I have a 2017 Wrangler JK. Useful tips and guides. Headlight ========1. DISTANCE: Park in a garage or near a wall and turn on the lights. Mark the center of the light cone (horizontally and vertically) for both headlights and both fog lights. This will be used as a reference for aligning new lights. Turn off the lights and remove the grille (you tube video shows you how to do this, it takes 3 minutes) and remove each headlight frame by unscrewing the 4 small torx screws holding them. Then the headlights retract. INSTALLATION: A small modification is required to install the new headlights. Each headlight has three lugs (lugs) that fit into slots in a Jeep's headlight housing. One slot is at the bottom (6 o'clock) and the other at about 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock. This will ensure the headlight is properly aligned and provides a snug fit. The headlight on the driver's side worked without problems. However, the 10 o'clock protrusion on the passenger side differs slightly from the factory headlight housing - about 1/16 inch. As a result, the headlight does not sit flush in the housing without modification. 6 o'clock and 2 o'clock are ok, so I used a dremel to cut off the edge of the 10 o'clock slot on the jeep's body (expanded the slot). After that, the headlight could fit directly and without play (it fitted exactly). Just plug and play after that, just reattach the bezels after adjusting the headlight direction accordingly.3. OPTIONAL: Once you've removed the headlight frames it's time to paint them black if you wish. I used matte black paint for finish, 3 coats was enough. However, I used a dremel to sand down the surface of the bezel as paint doesn't like to stick to chrome. Micro-scratches on the chrome finish aided adhesion, and the black bezels blend in well with the backlight. Worth the extra time and money in my opinion. Fog Lights ========1. REMOVAL: With the grille removed (Step 1 above), the bumper trim between the front bumper and radiator must be removed. This is a 4 inch wide, 4 foot long flat rubberized plastic strip that attaches to the frame with two plastic case screws. They are easily accessible, just unscrew and pull out. can be installed, they are too big to fit between the lower frames. You also need to remove the plastic fender under the jeep. Mine had 6 plastic trim tabs that had to be pulled out and fell straight down. No tools are required other than a flathead screwdriver to pry the brackets open. I believe earlier versions of the JK required a Phillips head screwdriver. There is also a video on You Tube. Each fog lamp is housed in a plastic bracket which is screwed to the inside of the bumper with 4 Phillips head screws. Due to some issues I had to use a short Phillips head screwdriver on the driver's side fog lamp. : The fog lights that came with the kit were installed in plastic housings and the bulbs inside wobbled a bit. I prefer my fog lights not to bounce up and down while driving. Also, the adjustment screws are installed on the wrong side of the case, so they cannot be adjusted after installation. For this reason I removed the headlights from the supplied housing and installed them in the standard housing. If you choose to do this, I have done the following: 2.a. Completely unscrew the Phillips head set screw from the old fog lights, being careful not to lose the spring or screw. Both are reused for a new fog light 2.b. Pull the light out of the old housing. There are two latches on the sides of the flashlight that fix it in the body. Simply gently push the housing away from these tabs to release the flashlight. 2.c. Install new headlights in the old housing. The fit should be as tight as the factory fit. Make sure the fog lights have full range of motion up and down. I had to trim a small 1/8" overhang on the back of the old cases that was preventing full movement. This was done with a utility knife. 2.d. Install the old adjusting screws and springs. The adjusting screws are screwed into the new headlights with a little effort, since the thread is coarser, but the diameter is the same, in the end it remains only to twist the housing, this allows the headlights to be adjusted at the factory holes in the frame and a much more reliable installation! 3. Reinstall and reconnect the fog lights, reinstall the fender, fascia and grille and adjust the fog lights as needed. I want a quality installation, but the headlights are of excellent quality. In general, all of the above steps, including painting the frames, took me 2 hours. I am very happy with the end result! I had a headlight with condensation that was after rain (poor pressure in the light) got VERY responsive and sent me a replacement within a few days.
