Review on πŸ‘ Woolzies Wool Dryer Balls 6-Pack XL Organic Big Wool Spheres - Best Fabric Softener + New Zealand Wool - Use with Essential Oils, Enhance Laundry Efficiency (White) by Jennifer Palmer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's worth walking across the floor of the utility room! (updates available)

I've waited a full year to write this review, although the Woolzies XL made a deep impression on me in the first week. These kids really work! Do they improve the performance of your dryer? . YES SIR. Will they *all* completely eliminate static electricity in your underwear? . NO, but drying sheets doesn't help either, and sheets don't help dry clothes faster. I dry about 10 loads a week. After a year of use Woolzies has several pills and one is even missing a tiny bit thanks to my dog who is a lot more efficient at running and retrieving balls than me. Woolzies use an escape tactic when you're taking clothes out of the dryer, but it's worth chasing them across the floor between washes. Your ability to keep them in line will improve as you learn their tactics. Although the Woolzies aren't as good as they used to be, they're still fully functional and look like they'll last another year. (See the photo of the new Woolzie I've uploaded alongside my originals which are 18 months old). One reviewer mentioned they would get stuck in the corners of sheets etc, which is true, but that doesn't stop them from tripping - they just take the sheet with them. They will fall and fall out of the corners of the sheet many times during the cycle. Although my dryer has a sensor that should only complete the drying cycle when the contents are truly dry, it never seems to work that way. Unless I was drying microfleece or very fine knits, my clothes and other underwear never came out completely dry when the dryer stopped. When drying my jeans or towels, it's not uncommon to run the dryer 2 or 3 times before it's completely dry. This will NEVER happen again. No matter how heavy or thick the load is, the laundry is dry when the beep sounds. The clothes don't wrinkle too well. Polyester jerseys still have static problems when the weather is really dry (which is rare in Louisiana), but a can of Static Guard Static Cling Spray, Fresh Scent, 5.5 oz. stored nearby solves occasional sticking problems. All in all, considering electricity and removing dryer sheets from my grocery list, I know without a doubt that I've saved enough to pay for them multiple times. They are way better than competing brands, especially the little plastic parts with bulges that break pretty easily and make a lot of noise when bouncing around. They only produce small muted hits instead of sustained hits (you get used to this pretty quickly and the sound disappears in white noise). I wholeheartedly recommend them and they make wonderful gifts too. ***UPDATE***: Eighteen months after using Woolzies I got a new HUGE dryer so I bought another set of Woolzies to add to the old ones. I have uploaded a photo showing exactly what an old, heavily used Woolzie ball looks like next to a brand new, never used ball. The box of my new Woolzies says that peeling Woolzies will help them look even better. I don't take pills! LAST UPDATE: After four years and thousands of downloads I'm starting to ditch the original Woolzies. With a high blow dryer I use 18. The original balls are very loosely bound and many have started to disintegrate. My cat loves to smack them and eventually breaks them up. Then I cut them into chunks and use them as part of the stuffing for pet beds. Nothing is lost.
