I use this fan to cool the receiver. Because the receiver is on a shelf, the only opening is the front of the receiver. The receiver sits on a shelf with about 5 inches of clearance at the top and 3 inches of clearance on the sides. The receiver is in a place where there is enough air to flow through. Although I don't think it's enough to cool the receiver when playing movies at near cinema volume. I might not use them for their intended purpose, but it works. The receiver keeps the cooling going and I know these fans are controlled and controlled by the thermostat controller from the same company. According to the list, fans move at 22 cubic feet per minute (cubic feet per meter). But I had to use two of these fans to cool the Pioneer sc-87 receiver. Fans blow hot air through the front of the receiver. What you see immediately is dust. The fans are not to blame. If you use them on a receiver, you will eventually need to service it to keep the receiver dust-free. It's not like I live in the wild. Even in suburban life on the street where there is almost no traffic, dust somehow gets into things. In my configuration, the fans are not always on, they only turn on when the controller is triggered. Fans also don't take up much space. You only need about an inch or so. They are thin enough to fit between components. They are good fans, they are pretty raw and add little foam feet. It eliminates any vibration so any noise is just fan noise. I recommend this product.
