Review on πŸ”§ Efficient OEMTOOLS 27106 Heater Hose Disconnect Tool for Quick and Easy Automotive Hose Removal by Adam Nikolz

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Solid workmanship, but didn't suit me.

I purchased this tool to remove heater hoses from a 2001 F250 diesel truck. I will praise this tool as it is very durable. He probably weighs as much as 1-2 pounds. *First issue: The tool is too long (about 28 inches) and hits the turbocharger tubes, making it difficult to install at the right angle to insert into the bracket. First Modification: After a lot of tipping and fidgeting, I cut the tool in half to make it easier to manipulate. *Second issue: Shafts are very thick (about 1/8 inch). I have never managed to use a tool on both sides at the same time. Second modification: I tried grinding small corners on the front of the tabs to secure the retaining clip. The shaft still didn't slide all the way into the latch to release it. Third modification: I then tried grinding the stem at a slight angle from the side of the tubing, thinking this might make it easier to insert the stem. My results have not improved. Finally, after about 2 hours of frustration, I got to the hood with a pair of small side pliers and cut off the top of the hose retainer. This allowed the retaining clip to move up and release the tubing. This rendered the hose line unusable and could not be reused. I was going to change the hoses anyway as the truck had 164,000 miles and they were showing signs of wear but thought this tool would be a nice addition for the future. Driving services for myself or other friends/family members. You may have better luck, but you can search and compare.
