Doesn't work like a 2nd Gen Dodge Ram.

I bought this to remove the transmission oil cooler lines on a 2001 Dodge Ram 3500. This won't remove them, but you can make it work by clipping the areas where the size is shrinking. Taking it off the tool and sanding it a bit to smooth it out from clipping the end worked great. I can't say what it is for, but I had to modify it for my Dodge and wasted an hour trying to figure out what it was.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Transmission Coolant Lines Tool Required

I had no idea I would need this tool to remove the radiator. But after watching the video I saw that a tool is needed to release the transmission coolant. lines from the radiator. In my case, this is a disposable tool, so it's better to throw it away. Because I'll probably never need it again. publish lines. I had to work on it. Turn, pull, turn, pull. hey They worked. You must have it.

Hit or miss if it's with both lines, although the design is correct.

I looked through 5 kits that said they would work on Ford transmission lines but they didn't work. I ended up getting this and the plastic and they slid like they should. There were problems with disconnecting the transmission cooler line on the driver's side. The passenger side came in and disconnected the line perfectly. After some inspection after cutting the fitting off, it turned out that the line on the driver's side was thicker than the line on the passenger's side, which is probably why

Untied the lines but withstood a lot of pressure

There is a small hook 22 here, the shape of the key was good as the lines are made with a pinch right at the entrance (poor design). So instead of a straight design, this tool should be slid onto the crimp where the tip enters the cord socket to release. Due to the small straight end of the tool on the ferrule, this is enough to loosen the line as the crimp is stuck right at the inlet to the cooler line socket or heatsink, again poor design. The straight line offers full entry and exit, had to…

Fell apart on first use! Bad workmanship, bad design.

I was trying to use a 3/8 way tool on my 2007 F150 to drain the transmission fluid coming out of the radiator/radiator. This is supposedly "the right tool”. I followed the instructions and even watched a demo video before using it but it literally fell into 3 pieces, didn't fit the hole and didn't work either. The lines were a bit rusty, but really? I'm very disappointed with this tool and thought it would make my job a lot easier, it turned out to be impossible. Also, it's a terrible design…

Works fairly well - not sure how long it will last

I used this to remove the transmission cooler lines on a Super Duty, it did the job perfectly. My set of regular parting tools doesn't fit, you definitely need this type of tool for Ford. I noticed that the anodizing on the front that goes into the socket has been scraped off and it's also a little rough, indicative of wear and slight warping of the metal. I don't think they will hold up to heavy use, but for weekend warriors or casual professional use this is the right choice. If I use it…

it works as advertised

I have a 2007 Ford Explorer with a 4.6 liter V8 Limited engine that has an extra transmission cooler. The lines leading to the radiator (lower tank) required this tool for proper removal. The OE adapter (Ford radiator) has large brass fittings that require this tool to pull the lines out of the fitting. You will need to do this when buying a new radiator as replacement parts come with different couplings and old brass couplings CANNOT be screwed into a new radiator. You will destroy your…

Durable and works well

This tool is essential to change the external transmission filter on my 2008 Ford F-250. The filter is an ATP B-359 sold by Amazon. This is an external filter. This tool is used to release locking devices on transmission oil lines. I couldn't change the filter due to a hand injury. The shop mechanic I paid for the replacement accepted my offer to use my tool. He had a plastic one. He liked mine so much he ordered it from Amazon too! I read the reviews before purchasing and found that one review

2004 Ford F150 5.4L Transmission Oil Cooler Line Tool

Use 3/8" size for 2003-2010 Ford V8 Explorer, Ford F150 and 2004 and later Cadillac CS. Use the 1/2" size for Ford Super Duty Trucks, F250, F350 and F450. I bought an Astro Pneumatic Quick Disconnect Master Kit a while back and thought I had a pretty complete arsenal of hose removal options It wasn't included in this kit and none of my 4 local auto parts stores stocked it. Why do you need it? Ford and some Cadillac vehicles have a different design line that goes into the radiator than most…
