One broke when I took it out of the box to put it in. And I definitely don't think they're surgical grade stainless steel. My original piercing was made out of this stuff and after wearing it for 24 hours I reacted so badly that it abscessed my nose and became very inflamed. Something that has never happened with surgical grade stainless steel. As soon as I took this product out and put my original back in and also rinsed with salt water, the swelling and leakage is almost completely gone.
