For the price you can't beat this unit. It's really durable and if the vacuum pump seems to be out of order, just clean the filter. The kit includes almost everything you need to get started. I would recommend this, some messy Kester flux points and a really sharp chisel point. If you're using a hot air pencil, keep the air to a minimum for small parts so they don't fly apart, especially if you're using solder paste (you'll get some drift). The tweezers are ideal for small SMT parts. Keep the tips clean and don't buy cheap solder. I use Kester because it doesn't have a pasty resin core. Flux solder is fine, but sticky stuff is bad and difficult to clean. Buy this with a toothbrush and 99% alcohol for cleaning. The device will last for years if you keep the tips tinned and avoid sticky flux.
