WORKS GREAT, but YOU have to WORK to get results!

This works great, but you have to be willing to spend some time with it to get good results. Don't expect to put some of this powder on a wet rag, rub it for five minutes and the pipes will magically get clean. Will not happen! Of course, you can also do it by hand if you want to spend all day doing it and wear your fingers down in the process. Use some sort of motorized fabric buffer and you can get the job done in minutes, not hours. I spent about 45 minutes on each head tube to get the desired results. As you can see from a photo I used a fabric buff on my hand drill. Aside from the active buffer, the trick to using this powder is getting the right thickness of the paste you're mixing. Start with a very thick paste that doesn't run at all, is still a little grainy and stays where you put it on the whistle. If you wish, you can apply it to the whistle by hand with a finger wrapped in a damp rag. Then switch to a Powered Buffer and apply a thick paste to the tube. The tissue buffer also needs to be moist, not dry, or it won't hold the paste. If your paste is too thick and doesn't spread well when buffing, add a little more water to help it spread like toothpaste. My right side tube was so blue it was almost black in places. (The previous owner ran it on carbs so it was packed.) This is a 1983 Honda GL650 Silver Wing that I am restoring so age is nothing to do with it. If you take your time and do the necessary work, it will do its job.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
