I have a 27" LG 4k with HDMI, USB and DisplayPort inputs. I have a 16" "MBP. I tried connecting the USB-C cable that came with the monitor directly to the Thunderbolt MBP to try to control the monitor. I tried connecting the HDMI cable that came with the monitor to the computer's flash via an Anker adapter to try to control the monitor. Both options had limited success as the Anker adapter caused significant problems. This iVANKY USB-C to HDMI adapter worked to power the monitor with all available options.
