It was too long for the place I was going to use them so I cut one off thinking I could add a piece to the cut end and polish it to fit the shelves are made of incredibly cheap material. Basically thin sheets of MDF on top and bottom and some paper to fill the hollow core. Ends - a chipboard. The wood grain feels like a sticker, not even veneer. Therefore, it is not easy to modify and is not very durable. The good news is that the brackets are pretty good. Thin metal but nice design. The shelf's chipboard is supported by a hollow metal rod and there is a set screw that prevents the shelf from moving. I can use brackets to mount some real shelves.
