I have several doors that close part way because the house has been remodeling for over 30 years so I bought this set of magnetic doorstops to keep the doors open. It turns out they do the job TOO well as they are designed to hold doors in place during a hurricane. Tips: -> Wrap the top of the doorstop with aluminum foil to reduce the magnetic force. I used a two inch long strip from a regular sized roll which I folded twice to create a 4 ply barrier and then wrapped it around the top of the doorstop. The bonus is that the color of the foil is close enough to the doorstop that it doesn't stand out. After this adjustment, the strength of the doorstop is much more acceptable. -> It wasn't clear to me at first, but to assemble the 2-piece doorstop with screws, unscrew the plate from the doorstop, screw the plate to the wall, and then screw the doorstop back to the plate, pulling slightly towards you. This will hold the latch in place where it cannot turn while you reattach the doorstop.
