I was very intrigued when my friend suggested this coffee maker. But after seeing the price I thought. But unfortunately I pushed the button and it turned on. I love good coffee and can be a sucker (that will come into play soon) for the latest "thingamagiggy" best coffee to hit the pike. PT Barnum was a bloody genius. Yeah, it's idiots like me that keep the madmen going. Anyway, it has arrived! Wow (sarcasm) I was amazed at how expensive plastic was used in a $38 coffee maker! And so many parts too! That must be why it's priced at $38! And after reading the attached instructions, I went to make coffee! He warmed up the H20, ground up some good "Larry Beans" and did the "deed". But guidance. ahh, the instructions were, shall we say, incomplete? So why all those lines on the thrust tube? yes yes can i add water for more cups yes it should be The instructions didn't explain very well that it must be one hell of an ink and pulp deal. Ah, my mistake. But back to the coffee! So I pushed the plunger and bam! COFFEE! So now the taste! Oh good. Hmm. Mmm. Well, it tastes just like my $12 TJ Maxx coffee maker. So why did I spend $38? Oh, it must be for the "cold brew" feature. Get ready to make it here in a minute. But that would be the ONLY redeeming quality for now. Ah, but wait! I didn't go into the funnel! It took me some time to understand that. It's not really necessary. When you use it, you have to remove it to completely fill the tube for a full cup of coffee! So why is it needed? The "small" amount of coffee produced is ridiculous and difficult to extract. It's easy to lose your balance when judging the pressure of pushing the plunger! It can get messy. Non-toxic plastic is good, but not that important anymore and of course doesn't justify the inflated cost. Option"Cold Bru"? I can just as easily use my cheap Bodum or similar press and get the SAME results by letting it sit longer before extracting. So, in closing, here's what I think of the "creators" of this thing. Why price? If you need more coffee for the same price, how about turning on the "Twice as Much" device for a more generous amount of coffee? I believe it is MOST of us. This way you avoid the hassle of having to make another cup of tea because it is too small. "Pass" is my opinion on this press as I plan on sending it back ASAP! Critique is a cheap and free RD for manufacturers to refine the products they sell and I suppose there could be a little more critique from other coffee cranks like me on this press. Update: I just realized I can't return it! The?! Revane took offense at not letting you know about things you can't return. At least Ebay will let you know in advance. Very disappointed! $38 wasted on a useless exercise. Big. POOH.
