Review on GT 3TP Mark III Speaker Tri Power Included by Malik Munns

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Really great radio but you should probably try the official Baofeng BF-F8HP.

I really like this radio. It has served me well and works well as a cheap technically licensed ham radio. His phone mic works great and I think it's good value for what I want to do with him as a ski instructor. I also think this is my prettiest radio as the yellow/orange color is more appropriate for emergencies and road use than the standard black which I think looks sturdier. Its software works EXACTLY like my Baofeng BF-F8HP with two clocks, the same robotic voice when selecting channels, and programmed with the same Chirp software and BTech programming cable, except it doesn't support UV-5r/BF. - F8HP batteries. The GT-3TP battery can even be charged with the Baofeng BF-F8HP charger. Why three stars? I came to the conclusion that this radio was built from non-original parts, assembled from a Baofeng radio and renamed the Sainsonic. I can't use my BF-F8HP battery with this unit either, simply because the GT-3TP's body is too deep to install the battery (I'd like to be able to change the batteries as the interior of the GT-3TP and the BF-F8HP are the same). Also, there are some rumors/speculations about the GT-3TP: I've heard rumors that these parts were assembled from factory parts that failed quality control at other Baofeng factories, but I don't know if that's true. I've also seen a photo of a GT-3TP car charger melting on someone's center dash, although I can't remember where I saw it either, although I'm reluctant to put a charger in my truck. So finally. I love this radio as my first amateur radio operator HT. I like the way it looks. I love its peripherals - I still use the handheld mic and GT-3TP antenna on my BF-F8HP as I think it performs better than the stock BF-F8HP. But I'd recommend dropping this radio instead of the BF-F8HP so that you can swap batteries with other operators as a last resort (every radio amateur I know has at least a UV-5r or BF-F8HP) and such a possible one Quality control could avoid rumors.
