Item is durable, easy to clean, and water resistant. My cat's had no reservations about walking on it. However, it doesn't keep all of the litter that is left on the mat on the mat. The mat is very thin and as the cat exits the box onto the mat some of the litter on the mat is picked up on their feet & carried off the mat & onto the floor. The mat should be thicker or have a thicker edge all the way around so that the litter stays on the mat. Not worth the price because it doesn't fulfill what it claims to do.
