I'm new to knitting. At 46 I learned to crochet and knit. Video on YouTube my friends. Anyway, the first needles I bought were actually bamboo needles because reviews said they were easier to learn than metal needles. The bamboo needles were too sticky. It was difficult to insert the needle into the stitch and it didn't flow very well. I ended up with a wood fire on my fingers from trying so hard. The videos I watched for the hats said they use 16 inch circular needles. The first ones I tried, from another manufacturer, were crappy and cumbersome to use, so I returned them. I bought these addi Turbo Rockets in size 10 instead. I admit the learning curve for these needles is pretty steep. You will learn very quickly to keep the loops on the needles to avoid dropping them. I have made 2 hats on the 10s so far. I am determined to bring her down. I have these needles to knit hats and scarves with my chunky yarn. I have to say I love these needles. I thought I'd never figure out how to use a needle that short, but I'm very good at it. I love these addi circular knitting needles so much that I bought a set of spare needles to continue knitting in the future. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
