The whisk breaks easily, the press does not hold its shape. The curia is said to flatten out after the first use or so, which is normal, but the bristles break easily. This is a good starter kit to see if you like a good matcha and the process of making it. If you enjoy the process, purchase a better quality whisk. The fine holder also does not have to be replaced by a spoon/ladle. Hope this is helpful. I don't think it's a waste of money. I've found that I really enjoy the morning matcha ritual. Upgrading to the best whisk is easy to do.
