Review on HiLetgo ESP WROOM 32 Bluetooth Development Display by Antonio Bacon

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Extremely confusing pinout

This board is great. unless you actually want to connect the pins to something. I thought the built-in display would be a nice convenience, but got hours of pain instead. It comes without instructions. The HiLetgo website currently doesn't even load (I get an HTML that partially loads without CSS). Okay I'm ok with a simple pinout. First I tried to connect the sensor to the GPIO pin and suddenly I got errors when trying to flash the device. Tried pins 5 and 4, all lit up fine except those needed by the SSD1306. Ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhri, try another pin? no, another flash bug: —— setting the flash size. Warning: The flash size could not be detected automatically (FlashID = 0xffffff, SizeID = 0xff), the default value is 4 MB. Compresses 8192 bytes to 47. Fatal Error Occurred: Packet Contents Expired —— This happens every time I connect anything to (most) contacts. I bought two of these boards, so it's not a problem with the device itself. Do you want to use I2C? Much luck. It's used by the display and I have yet to figure out how to use something like SHT31 to read temperature/humidity. One reviewer seems to have stated that it works for him. What are alternate (0x45) I2C pins? I still have no idea.
