It worked when I first installed it and then for 2-3 weeks. I then removed the drive it was attached to to reinstall Linux without affecting the SAS drive. It never worked again. I put it in different m.2 slots to be sure and it didn't work. Sometimes the M.2 infill can disable the PCIe slot or vice versa (check your motherboard's manual) so I removed everything but that adapter and drive - no luck. I then plugged the SAS drive into the PCIe card adapter and it works great. So this handy little adapter has dried up, but my drive still works (yes!). It's a shame because I would have preferred this method to an additional PCIe slot. I think this is the first negative I've ever had with StarTech, I'm usually luckier. I assume all adapters of this type are unreliable, not just StarTech.
