Holds small garage items (light shovels, rakes, axes, pruning shears, etc.) but when you start using it with heavier items (weed eaters, sledgehammers, etc.) Plastic chains crack or warp over time under stress. The ends of each rail are spaced out on 16" bolt centers, which wasn't bad, but to hang heavier items down the center of each rail you'll either need to use some sort of drywall anchor to secure the center screw hole, or screw 1 from the "X4 " or 2"X4" horizontal support is nailed first to fully hang/securely use the center hangers on each rail. If you have a garage with no insulation or just open posts and don't want to install nail supports through the open posts I would not purchase this item. I have bought many of these splints but this brand was cheap/poor and the plastic broke very easily. low quality. Very disappointed with this product.
