Note on all these sprayers - you must enter the correct viscosity. It's not just "pour and paint". YOU MUST BE IN THE ACCEPTABLE VISCOSITY RANGE (and make sure you don't have any lumps). This package includes both a viscosity meter and an optional cover. With all of these self-contained air atomizers, you *should* get the right viscosity. Also, unless it's a new can, you should definitely use a strainer as paint tolerances and travel are very, very tight - one *smack* and you're clogging the system. It's quite difficult to get the right viscosity and the containers are quite small. You should consider a different container to get the right mix. Once you have the overall mix ratio you can only see it *by eye*, but having the extra cap is nice as you can fill the mix almost to the brim and get a good mix before sticking the siphon into the mix . If you put the tube in first (before a good shake), you might get unmixed starting liquid (I did this once and it took a while to get the spray right - my fault, not the machine). This device has a fairly wide range of viscosity. The device works well and is very convenient as a 'standalone', it is relatively easy to clean compared to the 'standalone' types. I only used it for Primer Day and Grill Day. You'll need to make the mixture fairly lean for it to work, so plan on adding an extra layer. On the other hand, thin layers mean that 1) your paint will last 2 or 3 times longer than expected and 2) it dries very quickly. (You know you always need thin coats, right?) For a primer, although the Sherwin Williams gentleman said I could do without thinner, I used 2 parts water to 1 part primer (one coat was enough for good plots, but it took me two for the decay sections). For paint, it's more like three or more parts water to one part paint (one coat was fine, but two coats to really cover (light) paint over white primer). The spray pattern is controllable and works well and easily between horizontal and vertical. There is an overflow, but overall it's better than similar *one-handed* devices. Not as controllable as a spray can (mainly because the paint doesn't dry as quickly (like before it hits the ground)), but not a disaster. The amount of paint can be controlled and when you get a unit you will understand why this is important. I recommend you go thin (high air to paint ratio) as it applies smoother and dries faster, but you are more likely to need a second coat. I would recommend it to a friend and for this price it's way better than what you get in the store. As for the company, the shipping was fast (Prime worked within two days of delivery (which is not always the case)), the packaging was adequate and everything was included and nothing was damaged. I have no idea about customer service, love it. I painted the grill. I expect it will last a long time but even if I only get five or ten uses I will buy it again it's such a value.
