Firstly if you're using this for USB it has 10 pins instead of 9 so you'll need to remove one of the pins on the side before using it, assuming you have a female side with a hard corner (like most). Second, it consists of two harnesses, each with five wires. One goes to the top layer of five pins, the second goes to the bottom layer of pins. The particular cable that arrived for me was made with them in reverse order. Namely, the upper layer of the male side moves to the lower layer of the female side and vice versa. So I had to completely disassemble the outlet, disconnect all ten wires, and then reassemble properly. I don't know how this could have happened as I thought it was done on automated equipment. However, mine wouldn't work at all when it arrived. After swapping the cable both ways (swapping wires top to bottom and removing one wire) it worked fine, which is why I'm giving it two stars. If I had known I was going to have this problem I would have just bought individual jumper wires and wired them up myself. Live and learn - I wouldn't buy this again or recommend it to others.
