Who does not see if the UV lamp is working - it means that it does not work, it may have been damaged during transportation. The lamp burns with a weak blue light and after a day the plastic around it burns out (turns yellow) like in the sun. I hope this does not reduce the lifespan. With its pros: Inexpensive device with a UV lamp, hygrostat and thermometer. Got cons: There is nothing in the instructions about replacing the UV lamp, it will probably have to be done by disassembling the device or in the service.
