This bag fits my 17" laptop and accessories with enough room to spare for some school supplies (papers, notebook, pens, calculator). There is good padding all around and the carrying parts (shoulder and handles) appear solid. The shoulder strap is connected to the bag via metal clasps that are thankfully squeak-free, unlike another bag I used to have with plastic clasps that would creak and squeak when walking around carrying it. The only drawback to this bag, I have found, is when traveling and using the luggage holding strap that is supposed to fit over the extended handle of a suitcase. This holding strap is connected to an exterior velcro pocket so when the holding strap is attached to the luggage handle, it puts a strain on the velcro attached opening, making it pucker. I have only traveled with this laptop bag once, but I can see that if I use the luggage holding strap enough times, it will wear out the velcro or the pocket opening itself. This laptop bag would have been much better if the luggage holding strap wasn't placed on a pocket that is closed by a small piece of velcro, and instead on a more stable part of the bag.Bottom line: This bag is great for everyday use such as walking around, but not a good choice for traveling with luggage (unless you choose not to use the luggage holding strap).
