When I took these shorts out of the box I was a bit surprised as I was expecting to see regular shorts that are open in the front. These are sweater shorts with an elastic waistband, similar to jockey shorts or athletic shorts, but with belt loops and a zip fastening in front. I've never seen shorts like this, but I can't say I'm a clothing expert. The advantage of this style with an elastic waistband is that the shorts are very comfortable without constricting, but are not to be worn. They have lots of pockets, which is what I love about cargo shorts: two standard front pockets that you can put your hand in, two additional square pockets on the front with buttoned flaps, and two more pockets with buttoned flaps on the back. return. The front pockets are easily deep enough for a wallet, a very large smartphone (I currently have the largest smartphone on the market, although it's not my choice and my huge phone fits completely in one of the front pockets) or your keys and change. The square flap pockets are a good size as you would expect from good cargo shorts. These are good cargo shorts that are very comfortable to wear. These are definitely not the highest quality cargo shorts you can buy, but for the price ($28.99) they are more than worth the money.
