As someone who was first astonished by the poor read speed, I can state that after looking at the measurements of other individuals, I concluded that something is amiss here. Many people's speeds were recorded as being between 100 and 180 MB/s. I was able to achieve the coveted 180 MB/s transfer rate by just inserting the flash drive into the device's rear USB 3.0 connector (here is my test result). Only the rear connectors should be used for a true speed test.
